Ah, water cooled, forgot. I thought it was a little small for a gas tank, and a weird position. - xCONWRATHx wrote:

| Notched out the dash so it fits with the cage. So many people stared at me today including a cop lol. Car is extremely stiff as to be expected and handles well, did a little bit of cornering to test the handling. | |

| Just out of curiosity, where did you get the cage built, and to what specs? Looks like a pretty nice cage, though not FIA spec. What kind of racing do you plan to do with the car? | |

| A local shop built it, plan on doing auto-x and drag racing. If I get a decent suspension setup I might do a couple rally races at a track near me as well(Gravity Park in Chilton, WI). | |

| Tearing down the car Simplified the dash harness 3lbs worth of wires I cut out Extended & shotened some wires so I can run the interior body harness behind all the body panels. Have to buy clips yet for it but none of the wires should be visible once done (no rear interior pieces will be going back in). 1st 2 layers of metal were rusted thru (16ga & 18ga) but the rest seems solid. Now some people shouldn't be allowed to touch cars. Instead of welding in some new metal the previous owner decided to fill the pillar with foam then sand it & just mud over top of that before painting. All the rust sucks but it should be fun forming new pieces and repairing it. | |

| I know your pain. On my rally car I had to rebuild both front frame rails, two big chunks of the floor pan, the back sides of the rockers, and the drivers rear frame rail. | |

| I'm not as dedicated as some of you guys eliminating ur ps but would like any extra hp gain I can get so I might install this electric power steering pump/resevoir I purchased a year ago. Its off of a Renault from over seas with ruffly 40,000 miles of use. Should weigh less then are stock units as well. | |

| around $250 shipped, some 04-06 mazdas (around $300), 89-93ish Mr2 as well as other vehicles had electric powersteering pumps. Manufactures seem to use them for a couple years then stop & go back to them again so i'm not sure if they were having issues or not with them. | |

| probably inside passenger front corner against the firewall. Have to make a mounting bracket with lots of rubber so you don't here it vibrating. | |

I would suggest checking the regulations for whatever kind of racing you plan to do. Power steering fluid is flammable, and also under extreme pressure. Many sanctioning bodies will require you to build a bulkhead around the pump, and any lines to prevent passenger compartment fires. Just something to keep in mind. | |

| Looks badass. I am sure the old one was a bit harder to deal with due to the weight while removing it. | |
