| I thought i would start a build thread for this since i have the ambition to get it running and on the road. Since i sold the B14 i have done nothing with cars but i did manage to collect some parts. I wanted the P10 chassis for the suspension and looks. I think it will better serve me for what i want it to do and look better doing it. It is a 92 P10 non T with 213K miles. It is from Texas and it shows, very little rust, a few minor body issues but other than that the chassis is pretty clean. It was an Auto when it started life but was converted before me to manual. The motor in there does not run and it does have a B14 LSD trans. Other than that i know nothing about it. How it sits now / when i got it And how it looked during the winter Not sure how much progress there will be but i would like to have it on the road by the end of April or middle of May. | |

| First thing on the list is to pull the old motor and put in a VE. I bought a VE with rod knock that i planned on rebuilding. I was going to do an all motor build but i can not make up my mind so i am just getting it running. After the rest of the car is where i want it i will tear back into the motor. Found a nice surprise when i pulled the bottom end apart on the #4 rod. The rod and crank are scored and i want to make a reliable repair. So after going back and forth on what to do i have decided to throw in a DE crank i have laying around, get new bearings, and a new rod. Hopefully i have some rods on the way and once i know what bearings to get they will be on order. | |

| ^ that would be a question to ask Mike (my hubby) on friday when you stop by for the carpet because he's the one with the knowledge (he's rebuilt I forget how many motors already) and I know very little about this stuff.
I know we didn't balance our Miata motor after rebuild and it shakes around a little more than it should now.. doh!
Maybe you are fine if you don't change any pistons though? The miata motor has all new pistons but the same crank...
This stuff gets confusing to me I must admit...

| I dont think there will be a problem. Lots of people are swapping cranks w/o balancing. The pistons have to weight close to the same, i can measure when i get home, and im going from a 4CW to an 8CW crank, it should be silky smooth. | |

| Should of let me know sooner. I had the my 8cw crank from the original motor in that car. It was in good shape. Could of let you have it. But, 8cw cranks are a dime a dozen. I don't think you need to balance it if the journals are in good shape. Should be fine. | |

| Im in a mental battle with myself. Do i keep the P11 meshs (Maybe painting them flat black) or get a new wheel and use the almost new tires i have from the B14. The wheels would be about $70 more but would look better being a 16". Here are the wheels i am thinking about. | |

| I like the wheels you posted. Should look good on the g. Or buy Connor's wheels.
I may be buying some 17" momo arrows from my cousin for cheap and sand blasting them and powdercoating them black at work. The offset is pretty decent on them due to them being for a 240sx, they should sit pretty well flush.

Chris, are you not a fan based on looks? Or do you think they are weaker? Usually, the multi-bolt (including the ones in that photo) require the much smaller 'tuner' lug nuts (that alone annoys the hell out of me having to carry that extra tool and being required to buy the more expensive tuner smaller lug nuts) I don't think they are necessary weaker because we have 2 sets of multi-bolt pattern wheels in 15x7 ET40 that we use for racing (we like being able to use the same wheels on either the g20 or the miata OR the sentra we are building) BUT the 15x7s we have use standard lug nuts (not the tuner crap) so they are much easier to deal with IMHO. The 'look' doesn't necessary bother me as much on that style as it does on other styles (some styles just look wrong/cheap with the multi bolt pattern but it looks okay to me on that mesh style).

| I would agree having to carry around a "key" for lug nuts is annoying. Mine lives in my nx in case i am somewhere and need to use it. | |

| no worries... I guess it is more personal preference than anything else but there is the element of having it a PITA to carry a 'key' for a track car (can't leave that projectile in the race car so remembering to bring it and/or find it in the truck can cause issues!) | |

My vote would be to paint the p11 meshies.. classic nice look! Well Poo on you and your opinion.... Thats the reasoning i had behind buying the other set of wheels i had and look where that got me. I am not a big fan of the multi bolt look but that style of wheel just look perfect to me. - xCONWRATHx wrote:

Chris, are you not a fan based on looks? Or do you think they are weaker? I might actually if i can sell the P11 meshes. - insane imports wrote:

I may be buying some 17" momo arrows from my cousin for cheap and sand blasting them and powdercoating them black at work. The offset is pretty decent on them due to them being for a 240sx, they should sit pretty well flush. I found some XXR wheels that are 16x7 with a 38 offset that would push them out 20mm than stock, not sure where from the P11 wheels. - LightPeach wrote:

Will do. Here are the new ones i found. Link
