| ^ It is indeed a 2.8 1998 Audi Quattro
...and my husband was a mechanic for 13 years before becoming an electrical engineer so he works on all our cars (tends not to trust anyone else) but I'll keep it in mind if he doesn't have time or something...
So far we did a ton to it already since getting it from Phoenix back over thanksgiving last year including:
- brand new rear rotors and brake pads (still had factory original ones on car that were almost down to metal on metal) - brand new lower radiator hose (still had factory original that was squishy) - brand new water pump and thermostat (from ECS Tuning) and also replaced system G12 with fresh new G12 - Brand new timing belt, timing belt tensioner, new serpentine belt and serpentine belt tensioner (all from ECS tuning again) - Brand new APR front Snub mount (replaced crappy worn out factory one) purchased from ECS Tuning. - synthetic 5w40 oil change with filter (amsoil just done today again) - brand new front brake rotors and pads (were still factory original on the fronts but the rotors were worn badly with only 1/4" left on the pads so we just replaced both) -- replacements from ECS Tuning. - brand new right rear wheel hub and replacement hub installed - brand new spark plugs, spark plug wires AND brand new coil pack installed
Still on the 'to do' list is the following:
- install 2001 Pelican blue mirrors and eliminate the NIMO right side mirror - install replacement front passenger window regulator (waiting in box) - install replacement rear passenger window regulator (also waiting in box)

| lol It isn't exactly a slouch either with the V6. About the same as a Maxima. ...Much faster than a stock G20 or any stock b13/b14 with sr20 any day of the week though with nice even power ..and the AWD is nice. | |

| no top end re seal yet? lol those cars leak oil so freaking bad its not even funny. but yeah i dont blame him for not trusting people. 85% of people who work on cars are hacks. as far as power goes. they are faster than the 1.8t's but still pretty slow. | |

| ^ he already had to fix what some 'hack' at some 'shop' butchered!
...ergo the rear wheel bearing was just replaced 3 months before we bought the audi (have receipt) and that person managed to destroy the bearing installing it incorrectly so it needed to be replaced again.
...and the timing belt had just been replaced 45k miles earlier but that 'hack' didn't bother to change the water pump, thermostat, tensioners or misc. other things that really should be done 'while you are in there' so now we know it got done and done right!
Oil leak? nope... where would there be an oil leak? Mentioning 'top end' is rather broad. Seals are all fine right now but we did see a receipt in the folder of receipts for a valve cover replacement (not sure how long ago, don't remember that tidbit).
And it is actually because of all the scary 'hack' work we saw on other Audi's (or ANY used car we look at to be honest) that we liked this one the most (was still 100% stock, owned by someone in their 40s who kept up on maintenance instead of some kid who did the minimum work at the cheapest shop botching the work type deal) | |

| top end reseal is what the audi techs refer to as cam tensioner gaskets, cam seals and valve cover gaskets. those cars leak oil non stop. unless you have the 12v v6. i forget what year they got the 30v engines. the newer ones leak reeeeeeally bad. older ones not so much. most people cobble up audis because they are clueless on how they go together lol. | |
